Since 1991 we have provided substantial grant funding to Cambridge University’s Institute for Manufacturing. This support reflects our view that manufacturing is vital to the UK and our desire to foster interaction between universities and industry.

Gatsby Teacher Fellowships supported maths, science and design & technology teachers to carry out curriculum development by designing and implementing innovative projects to transform teaching and learning in their classes and subjects.

From the early 1990s we funded several projects to strengthen partnerships between universities and industry. In 2010, as our involvement in the area of Knowledge and Technology Transfer drew to a close, we published a review of our work in the field.

This programme supports teachers in developing pupils’ research, problem-solving and communication skills relevant to science. Originally developed at the Weizmann Institute in Israel, we have adapted and developed it for use in the UK.

We support the Marketing Initiative for Teacher Recruitment, which aims to increase the number of applicants to physics teacher training courses by helping training providers improve their marketing strategies, events and promotional material.

We funded the Oxford University Materials Science department to raise awareness of materials science by extending its school outreach programme and developing new courses and resources on materials science for teachers, trainees and pupils.
