Releasing Unclaimed Assets for Charity
The question of what to do with ‘orphan’ funds that lay dormant and, for a long period of time, unclaimed within the banking system has received much attention in recent years. The Balance Charitable Foundation for Unclaimed Assets was set up as a vehicle to release these funds from UK financial institutions and channel them into charitable activity. This Paper records the success of Balance not just in providing a new stream of charitable funds, but also in stimulating through its grant programme the debate regarding services and support for older people. It also provides a legacy document for interested parties once Balance ceases to exist.
