Summary of Mental Health programmes
Within the field of mental health, the Trustees are extremely proud of their 25-year commitment to the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health. SCMH has been at the forefront of innovation and reform in mental health policy and practice since it was founded in 1985. The trustees of the Sainsbury Centre are Christopher Foy and Judith Portrait; they are advised by Baroness Neuberger and Lord Ramsbotham.
Choosing to prioritise in some areas of work inevitably means withdrawing from others and, in line with Gatsby’s strategic ambitions for the future, Trustees have decided to bring their funding of SCMH to a gradual close over the next two or three years. During this period Gatsby will continue to support SCMH programmes to seek funding from elsewhere for its two core areas: the mental health of people in the criminal justice system; and mental health and employment.
