Village banking evaluated in Africa
A new peer evaluation of Village Banking Initiatives in Cameroon, Kenya and Tanzania which was initiated by K-Rep Development Agency and funded by Gatsby is available to download in PDF format below (the report is also available in sections for those who do not have access to a fast internet connection).
This is the most comprehensive experiment in peer group review which the foundation has yet supported in its Africa programme and we believe this too has been a valuable contribution to developing evaluation systems. It is one which we are likely to support further in the future and which may be a more effective way of internalising institutional experience than conventional consultants' reports. A team drawn from Appropriate Development for Africa Foundation (ADAF), The Cameroon Gatsby Trust (CGT), The Tanzania Gatsby Trust (TGT), Gatsby UK and an independent evaluator from a UK based local finance institution carried out this work.
