The Centre for Science, Technology & Innovation Policy carries out practical policy research exploring what makes national innovation systems effective at translating new science and engineering ideas into technologies, industries and economic wealth.

Background & objectives
Based at Cambridge University’s Institute for Manufacturing, the Centre for Science, Technology & Innovation (CSTI) is an applied policy academic research group directed by Dr Eoin O’Sullivan. Its research projects are designed to support the evidence needs of science, technology and innovation policymakers, in particular those officials in public research agencies who are responsible for programme design, portfolio management and strategy development.
The CSTI research agenda is shaped in collaboration with policy and research agency partners.

The results
In addition to annual core costs, Gatsby has provided an endowment to Cambridge to establish the Babbage Fellowship in Technology and Innovation Policy that supports the permanent post of CSTI Director.
Along with Policy Links and the Babbage Policy Forum, CSTI is part of Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy.
