In May 2011 we submitted evidence to the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee Inquiry into ‘Practical experiments in school science lessons and science field trips’. Our submission may be downloaded here.
Since the introduction of the National Curriculum there has been a steady erosion of the teaching of practical skills in school science. In April 2011 we submitted evidence on this topic to the Government’s review of the National Curriculum.
In 2010 we commissioned the Institute for Employment Studies to undertake a series of econometric analyses of the relative impact of SET Professionals and SET Technicians in different sectors across Europe. The report of this work may be downloaded here.
In December 2010 we brought policy-makers and stakeholders together at a conference to explore how technical education can best meet future demand for STEM skills. The conference report sets out the key challenges and opportunities.
In 2010 we commissioned the Institute for Employment Studies to examine critical features of UK science, engineering and technology technicians and compare these to technicians working in other countries across Europe. The report may be downloaded here.
