Last week Sir John Holman, senior adviser to the Gatsby Foundation, presented the eight Gatsby Career Benchmarks to fifty educational institutions in Madrid. He was hosted by the Fundacion Bertelsmann, a charitable foundation advocating for the adoption of the Benchmarks into the Spanish education system.
Last week (24th September 2020) the Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) and Gatsby launched Careers in Context: A Can-Do Guide, with advice on how schools and colleges can continue to meet the Gatsby Benchmarks despite COVID-19 restrictions.
Today (Thursday 18th March) the International Centre for Guidance Studies (iCeGS) at the university of Derby has published the final evaluation of the Gatsby funded North East pilot of the Gatsby Benchmarks for Good Career Guidance. Today's (15 July 2021) release of updated statutory guidance for schools, further education colleges, and sixth form colleges on the delivery of career guidance brings the welcome news that the Gatsby Benchmarks will continue as the single organising framework for career guidance in England.
Last week, newly-published data from the Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) revealed that schools’ and colleges’ national performance against the Gatsby Benchmarks for good career guidance has more than doubled in the last five years. Alongside a robust dataset from young people and employers, this shows a continuing trend towards broad, structured and inclusive career guidance programmes which are helping young people feel better prepared for their futures.
